Welcome to Blue Collar Scrooge.

I first published this website in January 2026 with the intent of helping as many lower income people get into a better financial place.
In truth personal finance is as relatively simple or complex as you make it out to be.
This site has a straight forward but more than comprehensive enough stream about it.
The following is a relatively short list of must knows and some site housekeeping notes.

1. The absolute first thing you must do before embarking on any financial journey is to completely understand your WHY.
For those who might not understand, you're why is just that.

Why.

Why are you about to undertake such a strenuous, possible multi-year endeavor.
You have to understand exactly what you want, how much it will cost, and by when do you want it.
And don't get discouraged believing you can't get there.
People do it all the time.
Scrooge did it. You can too.

2. Once you fully understand your why, you absolutely have to develop a budget.
Your budget will serve not only as a blueprint but as a calendar to the when aspect of your why.

3. Personal finance basically revolves around three fundamental tasks.
Making money. Saving as much of the money you save.
And investing the difference (see "money as football).

4. Almost without question, you can make far more money than you ever thought possible.
There's no shortage of information on this site how to go about it.
Remember hustle and hard work doesn't cost a penny.

5. Conversely to making money, You can save far more of the money you do earn than you ever previously thought.

6. You need to invest this saved money as wisely as possible.

7. You really want to create as much money as fast as you possibly can because later in life that additional money could mean tens of extra thousands of dollars EVERY YEAR.

8. Don't agonize over concerns that such a financial commitment will mean you won't have a life because of budget restrictions.

YOU'RE THE ONE THAT CREATES THE BUDGET.
Your also the one who understands best what your all important why is and how important to achieve it by a certain date.

9. There will be setbacks that come from so far out of left field no one could have ever seen it coming.
It's one of the few things that can be guaranteed so don't let it side-track you.
Don't give up when it happens.
And stop dwelling on every past bad thing that has happened.
Good things happen too.

If you must dwell on something make it the good things.
Hopefully this has served as a basic outline as to what you can come to expect here.
We will generally try to keep everything as simple and straight forward as possible. And without all the unnecessary fluff.
